​OneWave is a cheerful and uplifting surfing squad that makes people feel improved through talk of mental health. It all started in 2013 when a bloke named Grant Trebilco took himself surfing dressed in bright-colored clothes so he would feel better. Grant had something called bipolar disorder, which made his mood and thoughts change. He discovered that surfing and sharing with people how he felt actually worked a lot. Therefore, he brought some people along, and OneWave was established.

Today, OneWave is a large, open community. Individuals come to meet at the beach on Fridays for what they call Fluro Friday. They come dressed in fluoro, bright, colored clothes and get together to surf, chat, and assist one another. The bright clothing reminds us that it is okay to talk about how we are feeling, even if it is sad or tough. You don't have to surf either! You can just go, be part of the throng, and bask in the good vibes.

OneWave's goal is straightforward: to inform people that it's alright not to be alright. Mental health discussion shouldn't be a frightening and clandestine topic. OneWave dares individuals to be honest and no longer alone. It's a laid-back group of individuals who talk openly with one another, laugh together, and assist one another in becoming more joyful. To be merey by the beach and have someone to speak to at times can be all the difference.

OneWave also goes to schools, workplaces, and other environments and educates people on mental health. They enable others to learn how to care for themselves and treat other people who are not fine. OneWave has reached people all over the globe, ranging from Australia to the United States, New Zealand, and even the island nations. Provided that there is a beach and caring people, OneWave can occur.

OneWave is special because the way fun, support, and friendship are blended together. It is a testament to how one wave, smile, or conversation can change a person's life. Combining the saltwater, surf, and a pinch of energy, OneWave unites people to feel empowered and give and receive hope.​
